An iconic vineyard located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Langoa Barton was acquired in 1821 by Hugh Barton, a descendant of Thomas Barton, a native Irishman and merchant at Bordeaux.
In the famous 1855 classification, Château Langoa Barton was named Third Grand Cru Classé. Today, Lilian Barton Sartorius, Anthony Barton's daughter, runs the various family estates accompanied by her two children, Mélanie and Damien, who represent the tenth generation.
Laying on gravel soils with clay subsoils, the Domaine vineyard covers 20 hectares of vines, including 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 9% Cabernet franc. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.
The Château Langoa Barton offers a typical Saint-Julien wine, both complex and silky, presenting a fine balance between tannic structure and fruit expression.
Discover the timeless elegance of Château Langoa Barton, a historic estate celebrating over 200 years of history at the heart of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation. This 2022 vintage embodies the passion of the Barton family, whose 10th generation—represented by Lilian Barton and her children—continues to write the legend of this estate, acquired in 1821.
The Langoa Barton vineyard flourishes on a magnificent hill of Quaternary gravel facing the river. This exceptional terroir allows for optimal grape ripeness, enhanced by respectful vineyard management: plowing is traditional, carried out without any weed killers or herbicides.
The 2022 vintage stands out for its remarkable concentration and balance. The harvest, carried out entirely by hand, took place from September 8 to 23.
Blend: This wine is the result of a precise blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56.5%), Merlot (41%), and a touch of Cabernet Franc (2.5%).
Vinification & Aging: After meticulous sorting, the berries were vinified by gravity in temperature-controlled wooden vats. The wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new), imparting structure and aromatic complexity.
Château Langoa Barton 2022 has already won over the most influential critics with its depth and finesse, confirming its status as a 1855 Third Growth.
Fide et Fortitude (Loyalty and Courage) – The Barton family’s motto, which resonates in every glass of this great wine.
