Dauzac

This Château was part of the Sauveté (protected area of refuge within which laws do not apply) of Macau in the 13th century. The history of Dauzac really begins in 1740 when Château was brought as a dowry to the Lynch family, one of whose descendants would be President à mortier of the Parliament of Bordeaux until 1790, and then Mayor of Bordeaux under the First Empire.

It is on the lands of this Château, at the initiative of the famous scholar Alexis Millardet and thanks to the assistance of the owners and Ernest David, steward, that in 1885 was born the "Bouillie Bordelaise", a mixture of lime and copper to fight against Mildew, thus saving the European vineyard from disaster.

This is a fifth Grand Cru Classé following the prestigious 1855 list.

The average age of the vineyard is 30 years and the vines extend over 45 hectares planted on beautiful deep gravelly hilltops. The property borders the Gironde River for 1 km at the meeting of the two rivers Garonne and Dordogne, a quite exceptional situation.

Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon 62% and Merlot noir 38%.

The harvest is entirely manual and the wine is aged for 12 months in barrels with the proportion of new barrels varying between 50 and 80% depending on the typicity of the Vintage.
