Trotanoy

It is in the regional archives of Aquitaine that we find traces of this vineyard, which in the 18th century was named "Trop Ennuie" (from Old French: difficulty) suggesting by this name that the land on which the vines then rested was too difficult to cultivate! It was only at the beginning of the 20th century that its owner changed the name to Trotanoy.

The vineyard, which rests on a soil for half in clayey gravel and for the other half on black clay, is planted on the best exposed part of the plateau of Pomerol, which will allow it to escape the disastrous consequences of the freeze of the winter of 1956. The surface area of the vineyard is 7.5 hectares for an annual average of 25 barrels or the equivalent of 30,000 bottles for a very minimal but very qualitative yield of 4,000 bottles per hectare.

Variety of grapes: black Merlot 90%, cabernet franc: 10%. All the harvest is manual with sorting of berries in the cellar.

The duration of vatting is about 20 days then the wine is aged in new barrels for 50% for 20 months before bottling.
