Gaja

Founded in 1859 in Barbaresco, Piedmont, by Giovanni Gaja, the Gaja family has long been associated with the relentless pursuit of quality and the redefinition of standards in the world of wine.

The family's history is a saga of dedication to viticulture and constant evolution to keep pace with contemporary trends. Angelo Gaja, an emblematic figure in the family, played a central role in transforming the house into an internationally renowned company. Angelo introduced modern viticultural practices and pioneered the use of new grape varieties and French barrels, contributing to the Piedmont region's rise on the world wine scene.

The vineyards span several regions of Piedmont, including Barbaresco and Barolo, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme. The family also owns vineyards in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, producing red wines from varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Nebbiolo, of course, remains the protagonist in the production of the house's famous Barbaresco and Barolo. However, Gaja has also incorporated other grape varieties such as Barbera and Dolcetto, bringing interesting diversity to its range of wines. In Tuscany, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are the stars, producing powerful, elegant red wines.
