Every wine produced by Maison Leroy is a gustatory event, and this Chambolle-Musigny 2017 isn't an exception. Wines from this appellation are often presented as the most "feminine" of the Côte de Nuits, endowed with great finesse and elegant subtlety. Lalou Bize-Leroy's genius and the low yields she applies to the vines capture this elegance and transmit it back into the bottle with uncommon intensity.
After the drought of 2015 and the frost of 2016, 2017 brought a smile back to the faces of Burgundian winemakers with fairly decent yields. The year unfolded without any major difficulties and the grapes were harvested in good sanitary condition and in most cases with good levels of ripeness with its deep ruby-red color, this Chambolle-Musigny opens with an intense, perfumed nose : aromas of red fruit and ripe blackcurrant emerge dynamically from the glass, along with a very fragrant floral note which, together with a noble vegetal touch, gives it enormous freshness.
The palate is graceful and delicate, with a tight but very fine tannic structure. Although present in large quantities, the tannins are velvety. Waves of black berry fruit (blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry) reach us with absolute freshness, in an impressively precise acidity-tannin-fruity balance.
With a magnificent allonge of mellow tannins and full of elegance, it will be the perfect companion to a 7 o'clock leg of lamb or an oxtail à la vigneronne, after a few hours in the decanter.
