This is a family-run Maison located in Epernay since 1834, five generations of prosperity, exacting standards, generosity, loyalty, with an umbrella of a certain taste for freedom.
However, their success was to suffer the consequences of the Secsecond world war, the owners of the time took over, innovated, exported, and finally saved the family business, notably with the acquisition of a stake by an investment fund in 1994.
The Boizel-Chanoine Champagne group came into being with the merger of the Champagnes Chanoine, before becoming Lanson-BBC in 2010.
2013 is a late year for the Champagne vineyard.
It all starts with a long, cold winter that stretches until mid-April, causing a significant delay in the vegetative cycle.
Spring, though mild, is marked by little sunshine and frequent rain.
But from mid-June onwards, exceptionally warm weather and Sec sets in, enabling optimum ripening.
The few showers in September allowed the berries to gorge themselves with juice.
The results are very heterogeneous, but this is a great vintage, even very great for the Grands Crus.
This Vintage is composed of Premiers and Grands Crus made from 60% Pinot Noir from Mailly, Chigny-les-Roses and Vertus and 40% Chardonnay from Avize, Vertus and Cuis.
After parcel-based vinifications, the wines are aged on fine lees in oak barrels for 8 years.
Then, following disgorgement, this cuvée receives a dosage of 4g/L, it's a Extra brut.
This cuvée reveals itself to be rich and gourmet, with a great palette of intense aromas, honey, candied clementine and quince paste.
On the palate, we discover a silky, yet fresh texture, combining brioche and blood orange.
The finish is long and stimulating.
This 2013, powerful and elegant, will easily envelop a roast quail with prunes or even a just-seared foie gras.
