Drappier

The Champagne Drappier is an iconic Champagne house, renowned for its rich history and commitment to the exceptional quality of its cuvées. Founded in 1808 by François Drappier, the family-run house is located in the village of Urville, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, in the Champagne region.

The history of the Drappier family goes back more than two centuries, when François Drappier, a passionate winemaker, decided to create his own house of Champagne. He acquired vineyards in the Côte des Bar, a southern region of the Champagne, less well known than the Montagne de Reims or the Vallée de la Marne, but which plays an essential role in the diversity of the Champagne terroir.

Over the generations, the Drappier family has perpetuated its winemaking know-how and heritage, focusing on pRéserver traditional values while adopting innovative practices. Today, the house is still run by the same family, who make it a point of honor to respect tradition while pushing the boundaries of excellence.

The terroir of the Côte des Bar is a major asset to the quality of the house's Champagnes. The vineyards cover around 70 hectares, spread over various villages, including Urville, where the Champagne house is located. The Côte des Bar terroir is distinguished by its clay-limestone soils, which give the grapes exceptional ripeness and characteristic freshness.

The vines are carefully cultivated, favoring environmentally-friendly methods such as organic... See more ...

Description Drappier Grande Sendrée 2008 Magnum.

Terroir, vintage, rare Champagne at its finest in Magnum format.

It's a cuvée produced exclusively in the very best years, and one that concentrates all the House's expertise.

La Grande Sendrée is the name of a parcel of land on Kimmeridgian crayot soil, covered in ash following the fire that ravaged Urville in 1836. In its unique Louis XV bottle, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are revealed at their very best.

The grape varieties are almost equally divided between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to achieve a perfect balance between finesse and power.

On the nose, La Grande Sendrée 2008 Drappier opens with notes of hawthorn, honey, acacia, beeswax and marzipan.

The palate is dense, full and rich. A suave, delicate cuvée that combines structure and delicacy. A harmonious cuvée that lingers on a beautiful minerality.

The finish lingers for long seconds on the palate, ending on a spicy note.

A very fine Champagne from an exceptional year.
