René Geoffroy

The Maison Geoffroy has its origins dating back to the early 17th century on the lands of the commune of Cumières, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne.

Since then, the winemaking know-how has been passed down from generation to generation, and today it's Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy and his wife Karine who, accompanied by their daughters, passionately watch over their 14-hectare vineyard. They produce Champagnes "de vigneron" as we like to say, that is to say, authentic and carrying a history that can be found right down to their taste of terroir.

What is the history of Maison Geoffroy?

The Village of Cumières was the anchor point for the Geoffroy family in the 17th century. Generations followed one another, but it wasn't until the early 1950s that René Geoffroy and his wife Julienne decided to create their own Champagne, and the Geoffroy brand was born. Their son René succeeded his parents at the head of the company, acquiring new plots of vines to develop the business. Today, they are gradually passing on their passion and know-how to their 5 daughters, who will embody a fifth generation of... See more ...

Description René Geoffroy Volupté 2016.

The cuvée Volupté 2016 is the fruit of a selection of the finest parcels in René Geoffroy's vineyard, grown on the 1er Cru terroir of Cumières. Rooted in very chalky soils, the chardonnays lend elegance, finesse and minerality to this wine.

Originating from a blend of two distinct parcels, one of which - Les Chênes - produces wines marked by fruit and the other - Les Tourne Midi - produces wines marked by purity and minerality, Volupté embodies the perfect definition of balance.

The average age of the vineyard - 35 years - contributes to the richness and complexity of this exceptional wine.

Benefiting from parcel-based vinification designed to preserve the characteristics of each lieu-dit from which it comes, this cuvée expresses the purity and freshness of Chardonnay.

To the eye, it presents a fine, light mousse. On the nose, it reveals fruit aromas mingled with delicate minerality. The silky, refined palate, moreover, offers remarkable volume and a persistent, generous finish, fully justifying the name of this Champagne.

This is the ideal aperitif partner and goes perfectly with fine fish, goat's cheese or Parmesan. After a few years of cellaring, it will pair divinely with semi-cooked or pan-fried duck foie gras.
