Claude Cazals

The Maison Cazals was founded in 1897 in Mesnil-sur-Oger by Ernest Cazals, a renowned cooper originally from the Hérault region of France who had married a Champagne woman.

La Maison Claude Cazals : un terroir d'exception

DelpHine Cazals has been running the business since his father passed away in 1996. The entire Cazals vineyard comprises 9 hectares of vines spread over 4 communes: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus and Villeneuve. One part is therefore classified as Grand Cru and the other as Premier Cru. All vines are planted with Chardonnay to create cuvées with their own identity, full of finesse and aromatic power. The oceanic climate with continental influences is conducive to its healthy development.

One of Maison Cazals' assets is to own an exceptional parcel classified as Grand Cru in a delimited area: Le Clos Cazals, covering 3.70 hectares of old vines in the village of Oger.

The emblematic cuvées of Maison Cazals

House Claude Cazals offers cuvées of splendid freshness and irresistibility to say the least.

The Cuvée Carte d'Or reflects the house style to perfection: balance, minerality and floral, brioche aromas. Ideal for aperitifs to whet the appetite.

Description Claude Cazals La Chapelle du Clos 2017.

Reflecting its exceptional Grand Cru terroir, Maison Cazals' Champagne Chapelle du Clos is made from a parcel of Chardonnay planted in 1980 in Clos Cazals, a winegrowing gem located at Oger.

Born of the difficult 2017 vintage - marked by a severe frost and a rainy end to the season - this cuvée is a testament to the adaptability and resilience of this precious Rare vineyard.

Benefiting from prolonged aging on lees for six years in the intimacy of Cazals' vaulted cellars, this Champagne displays unique complexity and depth. Partial integration in oak barrels after fermentation enriches its profile all the more.

To the eye, this wine is distinguished by a brilliant pale gold color with golden highlights, embellished by fine bubbles that rise in a delicate cordon. The nose is complex and intense, exhaling elegant eXOtic and floral notes complemented by a delicate minerality. On the palate, this Champagne confirms its eXOtic character with aromas of lychee and pineapple, accompanied by a lovely freshness. It then reveals aromas of white-fleshed fruit, such as vine peach with a hint of vanilla, carried by remarkable freshness and a long finish.
