Prunier

House Prunier is located in Cognac with 250 years of history spanning more than two centuries. Since 1769, House Prunier has been making its mark alongside the great names of Cognac.

The first traces of the Prunier family date back to 1701, but it wasn't until 1769 that bottling and export activities really got underway at Cognac, as the old labels on Prunier bottles testify.

Across the ages, the 1850 building has seen each generation grow up. The walls, like photographs, carry the family memory. Even today, this building is the soul of Maison Prunier.

Description Prunier 1971.

In the past, the inhabitants of Cognac used to draw their brandies directly from the casks in their cellars. Keen to perpetuate this tradition, the Prunier house has been offering old Cognacs "Bruts de fût", i.e. straight from the cask without blending or dilution, for over 20 years. Typically only a few hundred are bottled per vintage, making each one even more special as they turn out to be Rares.

This edition comes from the 1971 harvest, a must-have vintage for the Prunier house. The grapes that give birth to this Cognac come entirely from the prestigious Petite Champagne terroir. It has been bottled at its natural alcohol content (57%).

Wrapped in an amber color with old gold highlights, this Cognac offers a powerful aromatic palette dominated by fruit Secs with aromas of walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts. Oriental spices such as cinnamon, coriander seed and black pepper also emerge. A subtle hint of cocoa completes the picture, adding roundness and intensifying the gourmand side.

The palate is intense with a powerful, precise attack. Fruit aromas Secs and spices are found in a beautifully structured, fat body, with perfectly integrated alcohol. A hint of candied orange adds freshness and length on the palate. Superb, round finish with honeyed, spicy notes.
