Frapin

Installed in southwest France since 1270, the Frapin family has been winemakers, then distillers for over twenty generations, owning a 240-hectare Vineyard in Grande Champagne.

It's Grande Champagne, classified as Premier Cru in the Cognac Region, that will become the chosen land of this family settled at Château de Fontpinot.

In its family tree, the Frapin family includes the famous 16th-century writer Antoine Rabelais. In a nod to history, Maison Frapin's logo features the writer's golden feather.

The wines are distilled with the lees at Frapin. After the traditional double distillation known as "Charentaise", the newly distilled eaux de vie are housed for a quarter in new barrels and for the rest in red or older barrels.

The Frapin house produces a wide range of Cognacs, the oldest of which date back to 1888.

Description Frapin Trilogie N°1.

La Maison Frapin, with a 240-hectare vineyard in the heart of Grande Champagne, 1er cru du Cognac, is renowned for its skills in making Cognacs Millésimés. But it also excels in blending these vintages. The Trilogie Frapin, from the Trésors du Château Fontpinot range, owned by the Juillac-le-Coq-based company, is a blend of three Cognacs produced in limited series. Three vintages of Rares cellar-aged Secs eaux-de-vie, selected for their organoleptic potential and great complementarity.

Trilogie Frapin n°1 presents the original blend of 3 vintages distilled on lees, 1986, 1988 and 1990. The 1990 vintage, the youngest, imposes the mention "32 years old" on the blend. It lends structure to the composition. A double gold medallist and winner of the title Cognac of the year at the International Spirits Challenge 2023, this Cognac shines with its elegant aromatic palette and presence on the palate. The 1988 brings finesse and dynamic, spicy notes. Finally, the 1986 is the guarantor of suppleness and balance.

Trilogie Frapin n°1 is presented in a bottle with sober lines, inspired by the bottles used by the Cellar Master for several generations for blending and sampling. It was produced in an edition of 1,600.

This multi-millennium Cognac is presented in a brilliant, deep, charming orange-yellow color. The nose is all finesse, delicate and gourmand, with notes of candied orange, dried fig, gingerbread and caramelized apples. The palate is suave and full, with notes of licorice, apricot compote and a hint of nutmeg. Fruit and spice blend harmoniously with refined aromas of Secs grapes, "old" Port Colheita and cigar box. The whole is prolonged by a full, sensual rancio in a balanced, never-ending finish.
