Description Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru "Clos Saint Jacques" 2005.

An archetype of the great red wines of Bourgogne, the Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru "Clos Saint Jacques" 2005 from Domaine Bruno Clair is a wine of Rare energy.

Originating from the eponymous Clos, whose Bruno Clair vineyard occupies one hectare, this cuvée draws the quintessence of the Pinot Noirs that compose it. Aged around 65 years for the oldest and around 50 years for the youngest, they benefit from a rich and varied terroir, composed of clay-limestone soil and limestone subsoil. The vines also enjoy an east-south-east exposure and an average altitude of 315 meters, ideal conditions for the grapes to reach optimal ripeness.

The vinification of this Premier Cru incorporates between 30 and 50% whole bunches and maceration is carried out in wooden vats, giving the wine significant aromatic complexity as well as an elegant tannic structure.

Maturing for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, of which around 35% are new, adds subtle woody nuances to the whole, without further marking the wine.

At tasting, "Clos Saint Jacques" 2005 stands out with its bright ruby-red color. On the nose, it reveals harmonious aromas of red fruit mingling with light woody notes.

On the palate, the wine offers Extraordinary complexity, with remarkable depth and length. Red fruit aromas are combined with earthy notes and, underneath, a delicate minerality.

Showing an ageing potential of at least 6 to 7 years, this is a wine that will benefit from waiting, but which is already a benchmark for lovers of Gevrey-Chambertin wines.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
