Description Christian Drouin 1981.

The Domaine Cœur de Lion is located in the heart of the Pays d'Auge in an old Norman farmhouse. For 3 generations, Calvados has been made here by the Drouin family. The orchard is entirely composed of high-stemmed apple trees with a good mix of sweet, bittersweet, bitter and tart apple varieties.

This 1981 vintage Calvados is a Calvados Pays d'Auge, the apples come from the Pays d'Auge and the distillation is done in two successive heatings in an ironing still. It has aged to the present day in Calvados red oak barrels.

The color is amber, very Pays d'Auge. The nose is deep and intoxicating, on baked apple, even caramelized, and clove. Then there are surprising notes of mushroom and cedar.
The palate is both round and powerful, on apple and sweet spices. The finish is persistent, full of freshness.

This 1981 Calvados from Christian Drouin, fresh and powerful, will be the perfect accompaniment to a great farmhouse Livarot.
