Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste stands guard at the entrance to the prestigious Pauillac appellation. Its name refers to its privileged location on the heights of the appellation, atop a Puy, the Lacoste family being its owners in 1855 when it attained the title of Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the famous classification of Médoc wines for the Paris Universal Exhibition.

In 1978, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste became part of the Borie family. Thanks to numerous technical renovations, the wines today reflect the full potential of the terroir from which they come.

The vineyard of Domaine is located on deep gravelly hilltops, and covers 62 hectares of vines, planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 75% of which are new.

Lacoste-Borie is the estate's Second wine, produced with young vines and the same care as its elder brother.

The Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste produces wines in the image of Pauillac, they are powerful but controlled, with elegant tannins and offer beautiful aromatic depth.

Description Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015.

2015 is undoubtedly a very good vintage in Bordeaux. After the flowering of the vine in May, the summer was dry and sunny. The months of August and September saw some rain that was beneficial to the vines, hydrating them and re-launching the ripening process. The harvest at Grand-Puy-Lacoste went smoothly, with each parcel harvested at its optimum maturity.

Blend of the 2015 vintage: 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc.

The robe is a deep and intense red, with beautiful garnet reflections.

The nose offers a sumptuous and expressive bouquet, with notes of black cherry, black currant and blackberry, followed by a floral touch of violet and sweet spices.

On the palate, the attack is dense and precise, revealing red fruit and spice flavors wrapped in a dense body. It rises crescendo in aromatic power supported by very coated and ripe tannins. It concludes with a long persistent and finely peppered finish.

Food and wine pairing:

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 will accompany a suckling lamb from Pauillac, a fillet of beef in a Madeira crust, a roasted veal knuckle from Corrèze with Bresse butter, marcassin civet confit with peppers or all types of small game birds.

For a match with cheese, choose uncooked pressed cheeses: Edam, Gouda, Saint-nectaire, morbier, Tomme de Savoie or Salers.

For dessert, it will be very appreciated with a pistachio and chocolate dessert, a chocolate speculum Bavarois or a tiramisu.

Ageing potential and tasting:

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 is a great Pauillac wine built for long aging. Its peak will be reached between 2030 and 2035.

However, it lends itself perfectly to tasting today if properly prepared. To do so, take care to place the bottle the night before in the serving room at room temperature. Open it and decant it ideally 5 to 6 hours before tasting.

The bottles should be kept in the cellar, protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.

ROSES2025

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
