Château Clerc-Milon 2015 Magnum
5th Classified Growth in 1855
Château Clerc-Milon
The Château Clerc Milon is one of the most sublime wines in the Pauillac appellation. The lands of Domaine were included in those of the Lafite seigneury as early as the 18th century. In the aftermath of the French Revolution, Château Milon, in reference to the hamlet of Pauillac where it stood, was sold as national property and acquired by the Clerc family, who thus associated their name with it.
The Château Clerc Milon was awarded the title of Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification for the Paris Universal Exhibition.
In 1970, it entered a new era when it was bought by Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Today, the estate is managed by his 3 grandchildren, who bring out the full potential of its exceptional terroir year after year, thanks to state-of-the-art technical facilities and great expertise.
Situated on sandy gravel and clay-limestone soils, the vineyard covers 41 hectares of vines, including 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1.5% Carmenère. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 50% are new.
The estate produces a Second wine, Pastourelle de Clerc Milon.
The wines of Château Clerc Milon are precise, complex and finely structured, where the brilliance of the fruit is expressed.

Description Château Clerc-Milon 2015 Magnum.
2015 was a hot and dry year, conducive to a great vintage. The flowering took place in beautiful conditions in May, followed by a sunny and dry summer. In August and September there was some rain which was beneficial to the vines, giving them a boost and allowing the ripening process to start again. Each parcel was harvested at its optimum maturity
Blend of the 2015 vintage: 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Carmenère
The robe is a very dark red color, with brilliant slightly tiled reflections.
The nose is intense and releases very expressive aromas of wild berries, blackberry, blackcurrant buds, followed by toasted wood and light tobacco.
The attack is frank, and it follows a lot of fullness and intensity thanks to chiseled tannins. The wine is very tasty, with notes of exotic spices, blackcurrant and dark chocolate. The finish is long, tangy and very persistent.
Food and wine pairing:
Château Clerc Milon 2015 will ideally accompany all types of game: a roasted wild boar leg with grand veneur sauce, a wild rabbit with mushrooms or a pheasant hunter. It can also be enjoyed with a saddle of lamb with herbs or a rib of beef cooked on vine shoots.
As cheeses, it will be appreciated on Edam, Gouda, steamed mimolette and Saint-Nectaire.
Cellaring potential and tasting:
Château Clerc Milon 2015 in magnum can wait at least 15 years in the cellar, and will reach its peak between 2035 and 2045, due to the large capacity of the bottle which allows the wine to gain in aging potential.
It can however be tasted soon, if you open the bottle the day before at room temperature. Otherwise, open the bottle 6 to 7 hours before tasting, decanting if possible.
To follow its evolution over time, do not hesitate to proceed to successive tastings to measure the evolution of the wine and its qualitative peak.
The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from light, lying down, at an optimal hygrometric degree of 70 %.
