Louis Roederer
The House Louis Roederer is one of the names that comes up when we talk about the great houses of Champagne, being still one of the Rares to remain family owned for more than two centuries now.
Reigning over a vineyard of 240 hectares classified on sumptuous terroirs in Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, the House Louis Roederer has never ceased to offer generous Champagnes that embellish all occasions.
The House of Roederer: a family heritage
It was in 1833 that Louis Roederer inherited his uncle's house: the house of Champagne Dubois Père et Fils in Reims, which he had founded in 1776. From then on, he chose to take the habits and customs of the region in hand and showed great concern for controlling all the stages of production of his Champagne. Description Louis Roederer Brut Nature Rosé x Starck Edition 2015.
It is a Champagne blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay of which 15% of the wines have been vinified in wood.
All the grapes come exclusively from the Coteaux de Cumières, classified as Premier Cru.
A small proportion of the Pinot Noirs is harvested separately and "infused" for a few days in cold water to be blended with the juices of the Brut Nature Blanc.
The wine has been aged in bottles and on lees for a minimum of 5 years and also benefits from a minimum of 6 months rest after disgorgement.
Gold color with slightly amber reflections.
The first bouquet is intense mixing sweet flowers like goat leaf or broom with a hint of jasmine and yellow fruit flowers (peach) and slightly toasted dried fruit with a hint of madeleine perfume. The second attack on the nose gives spicy and lemony notes reminiscent of sansho-ko pepper from the Far East.
In the mouth: ample and beautiful creamy texture with a final of very nice bitters and spices zested with multiple citrus fruits like Menton lemon or Florida grapefruit with a delicate presence of wood.
To be served at around 12° and therefore fresh so as not to flatten the palette of perfumes and tastes in perfect harmony.
Perfect with noble fish such as sea bass or turbot fillets with Champagne sauce. Same as Duck Foie gras and caviar. Ideal on a lobster or a blue lobster from Brittany or Scotland.
