Louis Roederer
The House Louis Roederer is one of the names that comes up when we talk about the great houses of Champagne, being still one of the Rares to remain family owned for more than two centuries now.
Reigning over a vineyard of 240 hectares classified on sumptuous terroirs in Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, the House Louis Roederer has never ceased to offer generous Champagnes that embellish all occasions.
The House of Roederer: a family heritage
It was in 1833 that Louis Roederer inherited his uncle's house: the house of Champagne Dubois Père et Fils in Reims, which he had founded in 1776. From then on, he chose to take the habits and customs of the region in hand and showed great concern for controlling all the stages of production of his Champagne. At the time, marketing was the business of the wine merchants, while the vineyard belonged entirely to the winegrowers. Thus, in 1845, Louis Roederer bought about fifteen hectares of vineyards classified as Grand Cru and acquired the status of winemaker-negociant in order to reconcile the two trades.

Description Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé Vinothèque 2002.
Cristal Vinothèque Rosé 2002 highlights the exceptional history of a few bottles that have been carefully preserved for 20 years in the cellars of Louis Roederer.
After nearly 11 years of ageing on laths, then 5 years on points, this cuvée then benefited from a 4-year rest after disgorgement. A well-deserved patience to reach the perfect balance.
The 2002 harvest comes, in equal parts, from the vineyards of "la Rivière", and "la Côte".
The Champagne reflects a beautiful, slightly coppery, shimmering rose petal color. The bubble is regular and ultra-fine. The bouquet is a gush of freshness. An astonishing impression of a sea breeze conveys delicately concentrated scents of tangy red fruits and citrus.
After a few moments, all the complexity of Ay's great Pinot Noirs is revealed: petal, peony, cocoa bean, concentrated red fruit liqueur (raspberry), smokiness, gingerbread, praline and cedar... accompanied by a few scents of undergrowth. The palate is dynamic, concentrated and fresh.
Always this dominant freshness, but this time brought by red fruit (tart pomegranate). Then the substance and effervescence are there, tactile, delicately silky and bewitching, gradually releasing the tasty allonge typical of Cristal Rosé. It's a real sensation of full gourmandise and great vitality supported by a sweet/salty finish.
A gourmet wine, this Cristal Rosé 2002 Vinothèque benefits from being decanted a few minutes before tasting to optimize the taste experience. It will pair perfectly with a stuffed quail with cranberry sauce.
