Domaine de Verquière
Located in the Rhône Valley, Domaine de Verquière is a 45-hectare estate straddling the Sablet, Plan de Dieu, Rasteau and Vacqueyras appellations. Handed down from father to son for 4 generations, Domaine is today run by Thibaut CHAMFORT.
The latter ensures the continuity and development of the family business, while respecting its traditions. With a wealth of experience in France and abroad (California, South Africa), Thibaut aims to enhance the value of his heritage in a spirit of continuous quality improvement, and to place the wines of Domaine de Verquière among the benchmarks of the Rhône Valley.
Passionate and concerned about his environment, he converted the vineyard to organic farming and obtained certification in 2014 (Vins Biologiques certifiés FR BIO 10). The soil is worked deeply to decompact it and encourage microbial life, all with the aim of fostering the expression of the terroir. From the very stony clay-limestone slopes of Rasteau to the red pebble-carpeted terraces of Plan de Dieu, Sablet also stands out for its yellow saffron hills and terraces mixed with sand and red clay, which give the wines a unique character.
Description Domaine de Verquière Rasteau 2020.
This purple La robe wine presents itself on the nose with a complex bouquet of blackcurrant, plum, black cherry and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, the wine is fresh from the outset, expressing notes of ripe fruit, licorice and pepper. The powerful body reveals perfectly integrated tannins. The warm, gourmet finish leaves a pleasant imprint on the palate.
