The very image of Bourgogne and the capital of its wine, Beaune boasts one of the most extensive vineyards on the Côte. Climat "Les Montrevenots" is located in the very south of the appellation, just up the hill from the famous Clos des Mouches. At around 300 meters above sea level, it's one of the highest Premiers Crus in the commune, producing wines renowned for their suppleness and freshness.
Each wine produced by Maison Leroy is a gustatory event, and this Beaune Premier Cru is no exception. 2018 was a very early vintage, with very little rainfall and exceptional sunshine. A pinot noir at perfect ripeness gave birth to this magnificent wine.
Behind a beautiful, rich garnet-red color, lovely aromas of crushed red fruit and ripe black fruit are revealed on the nose. There are hints of pomegranate and blood orange, which radiate freshness. Light touches of coffee, earth and spicy chocolate emerge and contribute to the complexity of the whole, in an immense refinement.
The palate is soft and sensual, with extremely supple tannins that cajole the palate. Wonderful acidity from the outset accompanies us all the way, imparting enormous freshness to a dense, juicy fruitiness. Tender, gourmet aromas of tangy red berries reach us through the retronasal passage and continue right through to the sapid, mineral finish.
This Beaune Premier Cru "Les Montrevenots" 2018 will make a superb pairing as a starter with a lamb terrine, or during the meal with a Burgundian potée.
