The Château Chasse-Spleen is an emblematic Domaine vineyard located in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, in the Bordeaux region. Famous for the exceptional quality of its wines, Château has a rich history and benefits from a unique terroir.
The history of Château Chasse-Spleen dates back to the 18th century, when the Foixe-Bordeaux family founded the estate. However, it was in the 19th century that Château began to make a name for itself, thanks to the Cruse family, who acquired the property in 1850. The Cruses, a family of Bordeaux merchants, invested in the vineyard and facilities, improving the quality of the wines produced by Château.
Over the generations, the Cruse family have passed on their know-how and commitment to quality viticulture. Today, Château is still run by members of the Cruse family, continuing a centuries-old winemaking tradition.

Climate
From the start of the 2012 harvest, rain was everywhere until mid-February. Nearly 600 mm fell. And so much the better, as the three-year water diet was long overdue. Late winter and early spring will also be very wet, even snowy.
The plant loves the unexpectedly hot weather in April and May (27, 29°). In June, cold and rain return, alas for the flower.
A phenological delay set in. While July and August were sometimes scorching hot, September saw a return to wet weather and tepid nights. The start of the harvest was brought forward because it was threatened. A succession of sunny days and cool nights calmed things down.
Cabernet Sauvignon was reassuring, but Merlot remained under pressure. Harvesting was a sport. High-performance tools and cool-headedness were required. The harvest is halved, but if the grapes are healthy, the wine will be good.
Tasting notes
The red is deep. The wine is clean and straightforward.
Before shaking: slight floral note with a minty background. After shaking: black cherry and curry.
The attack is frank. Full-bodied on the palate. The Cabernet Sauvignon characterizes the volume with delicate tannic harmony. The finish is persistent and floral.
