Deutz

A sure-fire, must-try value, Maison Deutz has decidedly everything to please, offering numerous Champagnes as fine as they are irresistible. Spanning 45 hectares of vineyards around the town of Aÿ, mainly classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru, Maison Deutz demonstrates an authentic style with the purest respect for traditional methods and environmental issues.

What is the history of Maison Deutz?

La Maison de Champagne Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, who were born during the First Prussian Empire and immigrated to France in 1830. William was already selling Champagne while Pierre-Hubert was a wine merchant, so they combined their skills to found their own trading house. Initially specializing in exports, mainly to Germany, they eventually invested in some of the finest vineyards in the region, to gain total control over the production of their own Champagne. Thus was born Maison Deutz. Very quickly, Champagnes Deutz would become internationally recognized for their refinement and become associated with prestige.

Generations followed one another within Maison Deutz, until 1993 when it was bought out by the Rouzeau family, shareholders in another no less famous Champagne house, Louis Roederer.

Description Deutz Brut Rosé 2015.

This is a Champagne Brut blend of Pinot Noir grapes from the terroirs of Aÿ, Bouzy, Vernezay, Ambonnay, Mareuil, Tauxières, and Chardonnay grapes from parcels of Avize, classified Grand Cru.

The specificity of the style and La robe of this cuvée is due to the contribution during blending of red wine made by Deutz from parcels of old vines from the Côte d'Aÿ: "La Pelle", and parcels from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ "Cumaine" and "Charmont".

The bottles will be cellared away from light and noise, with successive tastings to measure their qualitative evolution and their peak.

La robe is a beautiful rose gold with salmon coppery highlights.

On the nose as well as on the palate: Nice tension on the palate, the attack is straightforward, tonic and supple. The aromatic complexity of this cuvée combines freshness and finesse with subtle notes of red fruits such as wild strawberry, redcurrant and blackberry. The smooth finish is elegant and delicate.

Dining and wine pairing: served between 10°C and 12°C, this Champagne will be appreciated as an aperitif and goes perfectly with the fine meat of red mullet, beef carpaccio or duck with cranberries. It will also be the ideal companion for desserts such as strawberry charlotte.
