Description Marancheville Lot 14-45.

The name "Lot 14-45" refers to the two vintages that give birth to the blend and are present in equal parts : 1914 and 1945 ! Years that mark the beginning and end of the only two world wars the world has ever known... More than just an eau-de-vie, this Cognac is a true monument that captures such an important period in history in its aromas and flavors.

This historic eau-de-vie is housed in a classic Cognac bottle sealed with navy blue wax, an appropriate hue for a wartime Cognac. Despite the age of the batches, no reduction has been made. Instead, a minimal amount of old Cognac (around 5%) was added to the blend to achieve the 40° minimum required by the appellation.

Lot 14-45 is adorned with an amber color with golden highlights. The first nose is dominated by woodiness, with notes of cedar and eucalyptus, and delicate floral notes reminiscent of rose petals, fresh and wilted. It then releases a fascinating complexity with ever-changing nuances of ripe fruit (oranges, mangoes, peaches and apricots), vanilla and honey. From the glass emerges an incomparable aroma that only very old spirits can acquire, notes of spice and rancio.

On the palate, woodiness and rose petals again dominate the initial perception. The texture is dense and syrupy, but dry and without sweetness or heaviness. A multitude of citrus and exotic fruits, ripe and tart, reach us in dazzling complexity : orange peel, overripe mango, fig and apricot dry, accompanied by notes of fine pastry. The aromas swirl, change and then return in a marvelous, intoxicating aromatic whirlwind, with astonishing elegance and finesse for a Cognac of this age. An extremely long finish continues again and again on a subtle, persistent rancio. An exceptional Cognac to be savored contemplatively, a magical time capsule.
