Frapin

Installed in southwest France since 1270, the Frapin family has been winemakers, then distillers for over twenty generations, owning a 240-hectare Vineyard in Grande Champagne.

It's Grande Champagne, classified as Premier Cru in the Cognac Region, that will become the chosen land of this family settled at Château de Fontpinot.

In its family tree, the Frapin family includes the famous 16th-century writer Antoine Rabelais. In a nod to history, Maison Frapin's logo features the writer's golden feather.

The wines are distilled with the lees at Frapin. After the traditional double distillation known as "Charentaise", the newly distilled eaux de vie are housed for a quarter in new barrels and for the rest in red or older barrels.

The Frapin house produces a wide range of Cognacs, the oldest of which date back to 1888.

Description Frapin Château Fontpinot XO.

Frapin Chateau Fontpinot XO comes from very old reserves, bottled exclusively at the Chateau.

History: Chateau Fontpinot XO is the only first growth Chateau to have the appellation 100% Grande Champagne of international renown.

Entirely harvested, distilled and aged on the family estate, this proprietary cognac benefits from the very rare appellation Château.

Its distillation with lees, followed by a slow and patient aging in dry cellars, gives it the special character of one of the oldest reserves of the castle.

Color : This XO cognac is revealed and distinguished from the outset by its silky robe with warm, golden, slightly coppery reflections.

On the nose: This Trésor du Château is the result of a long ageing process, particularly in dry cellars, which gives it a subtle, complex, fine and persistent bouquet, composed of candied fruit aromas (dried apricot, dried fig), almond paste and hazelnut.

The mouth is balanced, rich and complex with aromas of dried fruits, candied fruits, and an exceptional length.

Elegantly dressed with a round cognac colored box.

Trophy and gold medal at the Wine and Spirit Challenge 1998.
