Château du Tertre

Château du Tertre

In the 12th century, traces of this Château can already be found in the Archives of the Arsac seigneury, owned by the de Montaigne family, the famous French writer and Mayor of Bordeaux in the 16th century.

It borders Châteaux Cantenac-Brown and Brane-Cantenac to the north and Château Giscours to the east. It is situated on one of the Médoc's highest gravelly hilltops, from which it takes its name. Its vineyard is remarkable for two reasons: it's in one piece and it faces due south.

It's a fifth Grand Cru Classé following the prestigious 1855 list.

Varietal composition: Cabernet Sauvignon: 45, Merlot 30%, Cabernet Franc 20% and 5% Petit Verdot.

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and annual production is in the order of 255 barrels, or around 300,000 bottles.

50% of the wine is aged in new barrels for an average of 18 months, depending on the typicity of the harvest.

Description Château du Tertre 2018.

Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme in the wines of the Margaux appellation. The main structure of the wine from Château Du Tertre, it is responsible for all its freshness and silky, enveloping tannins. As it ages, it gains in complexity, giving the wine longevity.

Renowned for its volume, roundness and suppleness, Merlot flourishes in the clay soils reserved for it. Opening the harvest, its silky, fruity notes add smoothness to the signature wine of Château Du Tertre.

Complementing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Cabernet Franc brings the balance essential to its structure, and stands out for its freshness and liveliness. Its remarkable finesse offers elegant aromatic length.

Finally, Petit Verdot harmonizes this aromatic palette, its spicy notes, tannic structure and aromatic power giving the wine all its subtlety.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
