Château Villemaurine

The Château Villemaurine embodies the union between a rich history and an exceptional terroir. Located in the prestigious Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, this family-run Domaine enjoys international renown, as much for the quality of its wines as for the cultural heritage it conveys.

The history of the Villemaurine family goes back several centuries. In the 18th century, the de La Clotte family already owned vines on this territory, but it was in the early 19th century that they acquired Château Villemaurine, giving birth to a line of passionate winemakers. Over the generations, the family has passed on its know-how, preserving winegrowing traditions while embracing technical innovations.

The Château Villemaurine has seen periods of prosperity and challenges throughout its history. Expansions of Domaine and renovations were undertaken to modernize the winemaking facilities while respecting the authenticity of the site. Today, the Villemaurine family continues to invest passion and dedication in managing the estate, preserving the soul of Domaine and ensuring its longevity for future generations.

But if history is a fundamental pillar of Château Villemaurine, the quality of the terroir is just as paramount. The vineyard extends over a limestone plateau characteristic of the Saint-Émilion region, with clay-limestone soils favorable to viticulture. This unique geological composition lends the wines an elegance and complexity all their own.

Description Château Villemaurine 2018.

A lovely garnet-red, almost black in color, the wine presents itself in the glass with a superbly fruity nose. Small red and black berries mingle with delight: redcurrants, blackcurrants and wild strawberries. A hint of woodiness after aeration adds depth. On the palate, the attack is frank and the wine evolves crescendo in power. The tannic structure is imposing but relatively silky. A slight tension carries us through to an elegant, racy and above all fruity finish. The blackcurrant aroma lingers on the palate for long minutes.
