Rhum Clément

The story of Rhum Clément begins in 1887 when Homère Clément, a visionary businessman and owner of sugarcane plantations in Martinique, founded the distillery at Domaine de l'Acajou, located in the north of the island. This distillery became one of the first to produce rhum agricole in Martinique, a distinct variety of rum that is made from fresh sugarcane juice, as opposed to industrial rum, which uses molasses.

Homère Clément was a staunch advocate of quality and purity in rum production. He introduced innovative methods and focused on producing exceptional rum. His legacy has been carried on by his daughter, Marie-Louise Clément, who has continued the family tradition with dedication.

The Clément brand is also famous for its commitment to the terroir of Martinique. The sugar cane used to produce the rum comes exclusively from Domaine de l'Acajou, where the volcanic soil, tropical climate and proximity to the sea contribute to the exceptional quality of the raw material.

Clément rum is made using traditional agricultural rum methods. The sugarcane juice is fermented, distilled and aged in French oak barrels on the distillery's premises. This method gives Clément rums unrivalled aromatic richness, complexity and smoothness.
