Rhum J.M

The history of Rhum J.M dates back to the late 19th century, when Gustave Crassous de Médeuil, a French businessman, acquired the Bellevue plantation located on the slopes of Mont Pelée, one of Martinique's iconic volcanoes. Fascinated by the cultivation of sugar cane and the production of rum, Gustave decided to transform this plantation into a distillery for high-quality rum.

In contrast to traditional rum, which is produced from molasses, rhum agricole is made from the fresh juice of sugar cane. This method gives the rum a pure, authentic flavor, reflecting Martinique's unique terroir.

The Crassous de Médeuil family has continued Gustave's legacy by perfecting the production of rhum agricole. Sugar cane is carefully cultivated on the volcanic slopes of the Bellevue plantation, where the soil, climate and topography contribute to the exceptional quality of the raw material.

The distillation process is also essential to the quality of J.M. rum. The sugar cane juices are fermented, distilled and aged in French oak barrels on the distillery premises. This traditional production method lends J.M rum a rich aromatic complexity, smoothness and elegance.
