A lovely reference nestled in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Le Bon Pasteur was founded in the 1920s by the grandparents of the famous oenologist-consultant Michel Rolland. The latter took over in 1979, introducing numerous technical innovations that quickly contributed to its international renown.
Accompanied by his wife Dany, they have never ceased to magnify the grandeur of the terroir of their Domaine, offering complex, richly elegant crus. Today, the team is led by Benoît Prévot, with Michel Rolland as consultant.
The Château Le Bon Pasteur is planted on 6.6 hectares of gravel-clay and gravel-sand soils. The grape varieties are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet franc. The wines are aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 80% of which are new.
L'Etoile de Bon Pasteur is the Second wine produced on the estate.
The Château Le Bon Pasteur produces wines that are almost exemplary, so refined, velvety and deep are they, developing sublime aromas of evolution after a few years of cellaring.
"With its splendid, brilliant color, this wine delivers a splendid nose of spicy, fruity notes. Blackberry, black cherry and blackcurrant are enhanced by notes of toast and vanilla. On the palate, it's an explosion of flavors. Ample on the attack, it offers a supple, elegant body balanced by a slight liveliness. The tannins are silky and the fruit vibrant. The tasting ends with a vanilla finish of incredible length." - Marie, Oenologist Premium Grands Crus - April 2024

In 2023, the Pomerol appellation enjoyed a climate conducive to the production of high-quality grapes. A vintage full of challenges for our technical team, who put all their dedication and passion into making what will be a memorable vintage. A fine late season after a cool summer enabled us to orchestrate the harvest from September 13 to October 2 with infinite dexterity and ideal conditions for ripening the grapes. Once again this year, the vines demonstrated their resilience in the face of unprecedented climatic conditions.
The palate is vibrant with a clean attack, driven by generous Merlot and exceptional Cabernet Franc freshness. Perfectly integrated tannins caress the palate with their silky texture. The finish is remarkably long, precise and pure. The 2023 vintage is the perfect harmony of aromatic freshness, elegance and complexity.
