Château Marquis de Terme

The Château Marquis de Terme is a very nice reference of the great wines of Margaux, renowned for its fruit and finesse. It was in 1762 that the Marquis de Terme gave his name to this property, which he received by marriage as a dowry from his wife. Thomas Jefferson, U.S. ambassador to France, praised it in his travel notes in 1787, ranking it among his favorites.

The Château Marquis de Terme was awarded the title of Fourth Grand Cru Classé in the prestigious 1855 classification, edited for the Paris World's Fair. The property has belonged to the Sénéclauze family since 1935, who still today contribute to its qualitative development: respect for the environment, parcel management and tailor-made vinification allow the Extraordinary potential of its terroir to be revealed.

The vineyard covers an area of 39 hectares of vines, planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It is located on gravel soils with deep clay in some places. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

One Second wine is produced by the property, La Couronne de Marquis de Terme.

Château Marquis de Terme is known for the splendor and deliciousness of its wines, which offer a beautiful expression of the terroir of Margaux and stand out their seductive side.
