Bollinger

In the heart of the village of Aÿ, the House Bollinger enjoys a universal prestige that is no longer to be proven, always in search of excellence. Proof of this is the fact that on the one hand, Bollinger is one of the Rares to own and produce their own grapes for the production of their vintages, but that it is also the only one to still have a cooper in residence.

The latter maintains the 3500 barrels, some of which are over 100 years old, day after day. A centuries-old know-how that the House Bollinger is committed to perpetuate.

What is the history of the House of Champagne Bollinger?

The men behind Bollinger

The origin of the House Bollinger is intimately linked to Athanase de Villermont (born in Cuis in 1763 and died in Aÿ in 1840), an admiral in the French army who distinguished himself in the American War of Independence and in particular at the Battle of the Chesapeake on April 29, 1781. A few years later, he inherited a vast Domaine family estate in the vicinity of Aÿ, a terroir renowned for the quality of its wines, which were not officially named "Champagne" until the creation of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in 1936.

However, the conveniences of his aristocratic origins did not allow him to indulge in a commercial activity, which is why he associated himself in 1829 with Joseph Bollinger (known as Jacques Joseph Bollinger) and Paul Renaudin. He created a... See more ...

Description Bollinger PN TX 17.

The cuvée Bollinger PN is a singular vision of Pinot Noir, the very essence of Champagne Bollinger and one of the House's pillars.

Its ambition is to highlight the different expressions of Pinot Noir according to its terroir of origin, each edition a new interpretation.

It is becoming a permanent reference in the range. PN TX17, after VZ15 and VZ16, is the third version.

This cuvée PN TX17, 100% Pinot Noir therefore, is the essence of the Tauxières terroir (hence TX, when VZ stands for Verzenay) that gives it tension, precision and complexity.

Some grapes from Verzenay and Avenay complete this blend whose base year is 2017 (hence TX17) and whose wines from Réserve, up to the 2006 vintage, are all kept in magnums.

The wines spend over 6 years on laths before disgorging and receive a light dosage of 4g/L.

The nose is discreet and subtle. Notes of dried roses, blond tobacco, licorice and Secs fruits mark a real aromatic richness and delicious evolution.

The palate is generous, cooked apricot, peach and pineapple first, followed by acacia honey and sweet spices.

Freshness arrives with the finish, where blackcurrant and citrus peel melt into salinity.

A lively, straightforward and clean wine that will easily accompany poultry with candied apricots and glazed carrots.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
