Alfred Gratien
A family-run Champagne house since 1864! If exception has a name it's certainly Champagne Alfred Gratien. The Champagnes from Alfred Gratien are hand-sewn Champagnes, a guarantee of quality and uniqueness.
At the heart of the Champagne vineyards, you have to stray a little from downtown Epernay to reach the Champagne Alfred Gratien cellars. It was here, on rue Maurice Cerveaux, that Alfred Gratien set up shop and created its first cuvées in 1864. For more than a century and a half, Champagne Alfred Gratien has remained in the family, perpetuating the know-how of its founder.

Description Alfred Gratien Brut.
Made from a blend of 45% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, and 35% Pinot Meunier, Champagne Alfred Gratien Brut reflects the terroirs of Côte des blancs, where the house selects the best grapes from its vines classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.
The vinification, entirely carried out in 228-liter oak barrels, favors micro-oxygenation, which gives Champagne its distinctive character. The four years' rest on the lees give this cuvée a unique complexity and texture.
On tasting, Champagne is yellow in color, with a lively effervescence. On the nose, it offers fascinating complexity, blending the freshness of white fruits such as pear, the ripeness of the Réserve wines with which it has been complemented, and fermentative notes of bread and cookie. The woodiness, subtle and elegant, is more discernible than assertive.
On the palate, the attack is lively and built on fine acidity. The cuvée's minerality, enhanced by the time spent in barrel, combines with elegant, fluid vinosity and slight viscosity. The silky effervescence adds an extra dimension to the tasting.
The finish is clean, long and remarkably mineral, with saline and chalky notes that linger on the palate. Served between 8 and 10°C in a tulip-shaped flute, Champagne Alfred Gratien Brut is an ideal choice for aperitif dinners. Its balance makes it a perfect match for a wide variety of dishes, including savory, sweet and sour petit fours. It's a Champagne that encourages you to seek balance in pairings, avoiding excess to highlight its finesse and complexity.
