René Geoffroy

The Maison Geoffroy has its origins dating back to the early 17th century on the lands of the commune of Cumières, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne.

Since then, the winemaking know-how has been passed down from generation to generation, and today it's Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy and his wife Karine who, accompanied by their daughters, passionately watch over their 14-hectare vineyard. They produce Champagnes "de vigneron" as we like to say, that is to say, authentic and carrying a history that can be found right down to their taste of terroir.

What is the history of Maison Geoffroy?

The Village of Cumières was the anchor point for the Geoffroy family in the 17th century. Generations followed one another, but it wasn't until the early 1950s that René Geoffroy and his wife Julienne decided to create their own Champagne, and the Geoffroy brand was born. Their son René succeeded his parents at the head of the company, acquiring new plots of vines to develop the business. His son Jean-Baptiste took over at the end of the 1980s, having graduated in viticulture and oenology. Today, they are gradually passing on their passion and know-how to their 5 daughters, who will embody a fifth generation of... See more ...

Description René Geoffroy "Les Tiersaudes" Meunier Millésime 2018.

The René Geoffroy House's Champagne Les Tiersaudes Meunier Millésime 2018 is an exceptional, short-lived plot-based cuvée, as it was created exclusively in 2018.

Originating from a plot planted using massal selection in 1972, this Champagne reveals the unique and often underestimated character of the Meunier grape variety. Grown on a siliceous-clay terroir, Meunier in this cuvée demonstrates its ability to express mineral, floral and saline nuances. Meticulous yield management and irreproachable viticultural know-how transform this grape into a magical nectar.

The vinification of this cuvée follows a traditional, respectful approach: hand-picking with rigorous sorting, gentle pressing and meticulous selection of the first juice. Ageing on lees in barrels, without malolactic fermentation, enhances the wine's purity and complexity.

On tasting, Les Tiersaudes boasts a pale yellow color with golden highlights. The expressive nose exhales aromas of fragrant flowers such as honeysuckle and peony, followed by notes of garrigue, dried herbs and ripe lemon. The palate is dazzlingly pure, marked by remarkable salinity and minerality, the signature of the cold clays of this terroir. The finish, dense and persistent, is carried by delicious flavors of roasted yellow lemon.

This Champagne is ideal for accompanying iodized and marine flavors. It pairs perfectly with dishes such as king crab, langoustine or fish ceviches. On desserts, it will initiate superb pairings with nut-based Secs cookies.
