Château Malartic Lagravière

A magnificent Domaine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation, known for its label proudly displaying a ship, Château Malartic-Lagravière is a true gem. Owned in the 18th century by the Comte de Malartic, Château was known as Domaine de La Gravière until 1850, when it took on its current name.

Since 1997, it has belonged to the Bonnie family, who, vintage after vintage, have continued to sublimate the wines with energy and passion, elevating Malartic-Lagravière among the greatest names in Bordeaux.

The Château Malartic-Lagravière is based on a 71-hectare vineyard planted on an exceptional Pyrenean gravel hilltop.

- The red grape varieties (62 ha) are 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The grand vin is aged for 15 to 20 months in French oak barrels, 40 to 70% of which are new. The Réserve de Malartic is the Second vin rouge.

 - The white grape varieties (9 ha) are 80% Sauvignon blanc and 20% Sémillon. The grand vin blanc is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels, 40 to 70% of which are new. The Réserve de Malartic is the Second white wine.

The Château Malartic-Lagravière is a great, very elegant wine, both red and white. The reds are fruity, fleshy and structured, while the whites are unctuous and saline. Quite simply, these are haute-couture wines.

Description Château Malartic Lagravière 2015.

2015, what a beautiful vintage for the Bordeaux vineyard. It was a hot and dry year, where the flowering of the vines took place in beautiful conditions in May, followed by a sunny and dry summer. The months of August and September saw some rain that was beneficial to the vines, allowing the ripening process to start again. At harvest time, the berries were of exceptional quality.

Blend of the 2015 vintage: 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc.

The color is a very deep red, with brilliant ruby hues.

The nose is deliciously expressive, offering greedy aromas of jammy black fruits, red currant, roasted wood, white pepper and truffle.

Soft on the attack, it is suave and voluminous on development, with fine tannins that give it a lot of freshness. Particularly concentrated, with flavors of blackberry, crème de cassis and roast, it blooms on a long, precise and persistent finish.

Food and wine pairing:

Chateau Malartic-Lagravière 2015 will pair nicely with a Chateaubriand with truffle sauce, veal cutlet cooked Milanese style, duck breast with pepper sauce or roast wild boar marinated in red wine.

For a pairing with cheeses, choose uncooked pressed cheeses such as Cantal, Edam, aged mimolette, morbier with truffles or Saint-Nectaire.

For desserts, enjoy it with a chocolate bavarois, an opera cake or a tiramisu.

Ageing potential and tasting:

Château Malartic-Lagravière 2015 would deserve another 5 years in the cellar to refine its potential, and will see its peak between 2028 and 2032.

However, it can be enjoyed wonderfully today. To do so, take care to place the bottle in the serving room at room temperature the night before. Open it and decant it at least 2 to 3 hours before tasting.

The bottles will be kept in the cellar protected from the light, lying down, with an optimal hygrometric degree of 70%.

The care we take when receiving wines in our cellars enables us to detect bottles with imperfections (dirty or faded labels, damaged capsules, etc.). In such cases, they are systematically set aside and never put online! Our preparation team selects only bottles with perfect presentation for your orders!

It is these bottles with slight external defects that we present to you in the "Existe en imparfaite" selection. These bottles are, of course, of "irreproachable" gustatory quality, but suffer from slight defects on the label or cap. We therefore offer them at a preferential price, making the pleasure of tasting them even more affordable.
