Opus One
Opus One, an iconic wine born of the alliance between two great wine families, Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, embodies elegance, tradition and excellence.
Founded in 1979, Domaine has fused the expertise of these two renowned winemaking dynasties to create a wine of exceptional quality.
The story begins with a meeting between Robert Mondavi, a California wine pioneer, and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, owner of the prestigious Château Mouton Rothschild in France. Their shared vision was to create a wine that would unite the best characteristics of traditional Bordeaux grape varieties with the unique terroir of California's Napa Valley.
The Domaine spans some 67 hectares, located in the heart of Napa Valley. The vines are carefully cultivated to encourage the optimal expression of Bordeaux grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The emphasis is on sustainability and preserving the natural balance of the vineyard.
Each vintage is the fruit of a meticulous, artisanal approach to winemaking. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted to select only the very best. Vinification and barrel-ageing techniques are inspired by Bordeaux traditions, while incorporating modern innovations to create a subtle balance between power and finesse.

Description Opus One 2019.
Opus One is a classic that needs no introduction. For decades, it has offered wine lovers around the world a class and structure reminiscent of the giants of Bordeaux's Rive gauche.
This 2019 is a Extraordinary wine built mainly on Cabernet Sauvignon (78%). It is blended with Merlot (8%), Petit Verdot (7%), Cabernet Franc (6%) and Malbec (1%).
A deep garnet-purple color, Opus One 2019 bursts from the glass with intense fruity aromas of black plum, blueberry, blackcurrant. Sublime floral notes arrive in a complex swirl of fresh and wilted rose petals and violets. The complexity is accentuated by peppery nuances and mineral notes of graphite and iron.
Bodied, the palate is juicy and of great purity of fruit: a cascade of red and black fruits fills our senses, along with noble oak notes revealing beautifully integrated oak. The immense structure of fine, velvety tannins is extremely graceful. The tasting concludes with an earthy/mineral note and a delicate dark chocolate bitterness that lingers on the finish.
Although it possesses the immediate charm of the vintage, Opus One 2019 will also age wonderfully for some twenty years. A splendid pairing with partridge in red wine, braised suckling pig or rack of lamb.
