Rhum Savanna

The Savanna distillery was founded in 1948 by the Harel family, a Reunionese family involved in sugar cane cultivation for several generations. Reunion Island offers ideal conditions for growing sugar cane, with its tropical climate, rich soils and abundant rainfall. This has created an environment conducive to the production of high-quality rum.

One of Savanna's distinguishing features is its commitment to traditional rum from Reunion Island, known as rhum traditionnel agricole. This type of rum is produced from the fresh juice of sugar cane, unlike industrial rum, which is made from molasses. This production method gives rhum agricole a pure, rich flavor and great aromatic complexity.

Over the decades, Savanna has continued to evolve and innovate. The distillery introduced new sugarcane varieties and modern fermentation techniques to improve the quality of its rums. In addition, Savanna has become famous for its experimentation in rum aging, using a wide variety of French, American and even sweet wine oak casks.

Savanna is also proud of its local roots and commitment to sustainability. The distillery maintains close ties with the local community and strives to pRéserver the natural environment of Reunion Island.
