Château Quinault l'Enclos

Le Château Quinault l'Enclos is located in the Saint-Emilion vineyards, on Rive droite de Bordeaux. Records show that this Château has existed since the 17th century. Since 2008, Domaine has belonged to the famous Château Cheval Blanc, whose technical teams manage it from vineyard to vinification.

They give it just as much care and attention to make the most elegant wine possible.

The Château Quinault l'Enclos is a Grand Cru Classé of the Saint-Emilion classification.

The Château Quinault l'Enclos is a 19-hectare vineyard planted on sandy gravel and clay soils. The soil is worked with precision. The grape varieties are 68% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc.

The average age of the vines is 40 years. The wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

The Château Quinault l'Enclos is a wine of great elegance and voluptuousness, seducing with its freshness and finesse.

Description Château Quinault l'Enclos 2023.

After a relatively mild winter (Sec), a frost episode hit the vines fairly early (night of April 4 to 5). Flowering took place under favorable conditions, and was clustered around May 28, in line with averages since 2015.

the vintage was very rainy (900 mm over the whole year).

The rainfall was regular, which unfortunately maintained significant mildew pressure. However, thanks to good vineyard management and a strategic choice of treatment dates, downy mildew did not appear on the bunches, and symptoms on the leaves were limited.

Temperatures were relatively hot throughout the growing season, with some scorching episodes (over 40°C). Rainfall at the end of August made it possible to postpone the harvest. The harvest lasted 9 days in all, but was spread over a month, from August 31 to September 29. Phenolic ripeness was reached for each grape variety.

The ageing period (still being tested for the 2022 vintage) is being significantly extended, from 12 months to 20/24 months. Quinault is now entirely in large containers, from 6 hl demi-muids to 25 hl foudres.
