Leclerc Briant

Created in Cumières in 1872 by Lucien Leclerc, Domaine moved to Epernay in 1955 to its current premises on Chemin de la Chaude Ruelle. At the same time, under the leadership of Bertrand Leclerc, great-grandson of the founder, and his wife Jacqueline Briant, Domaine became Maison de Négoce, and took the name Leclerc Briant. In 1980, Pascal Leclerc succeeded his parents and continued their work.

In 2012, the purchase of Leclerc Briant by Mark Nunnelly and Denise Dupré rescued the Maison from oblivion. This American couple, passionate about French art de vivre, fell in love with this non-conformist Maison. They joined forces with Frédéric Zeimett, a native of Champagne, who has since steered the House ever upwards of the Champagne codes, in the service of expressing a unique style now internationally recognized.

Description Leclerc Briant Brut Réserve.

House Leclerc Briant, a forerunner of BIO in Champagne, is located in Epernay and owns 14 ha of vines, 6 of Pinot Noir and Meunier and 8 of Chardonnay, located in Grand Cru on Mailly and Le Mesnil on Oger, and in Premier Cru on Hautvilliers, Cumières, Bisseuil, Trépail, Rilly La Montagne and Villers-Allerand.

The cuvée Brut Réserve is a blend of 40% Meunier, which brings fruitiness and roundness, 40% Pinot Noir, which gives structure and vinosity, and 20% Chardonnay for freshness and honey. The whole wine is vinified and aged in oak barrels; malolactic is not blocked to obtain round, gourmet wines. Dosage is 4 g/L.

The Champagne presents a topaz yellow color with satiny straw gold highlights. The whole is carried by notes of orchard fruits, quince, apple and pear, followed, after aeration, by more pastry-like notes of butter, praline, and almond. On the palate, the fruity volume returns, accompanied by a lovely freshness of citrus, lemon, apricot and even aniseed. The gourmet notes of the nose are also present, with the addition of cinnamon and mocha. The finish is delicate and saline, with a slight iodine persistence.

This character trait automatically makes the link with the sea, and particularly grilled lobster skewers, for a tasty pairing. For the "landlubbers" this Brut Réserve from Leclerc Briant will sublimate a beautiful Bresse poularde with chanterelles.
