Deutz

A sure-fire, must-try value, Maison Deutz has decidedly everything to please, offering numerous Champagnes as fine as they are irresistible. Spanning 45 hectares of vineyards around the town of Aÿ, mainly classified as Premier Cru and Grand Cru, Maison Deutz demonstrates an authentic style with the purest respect for traditional methods and environmental issues.

What is the history of Maison Deutz?

La Maison de Champagne Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, who were born during the First Prussian Empire and immigrated to France in 1830. William was already selling Champagne while Pierre-Hubert was a wine merchant, so they combined their skills to found their own trading house. Initially specializing in exports, mainly to Germany, they eventually invested in some of the finest vineyards in the region, to gain total control over the production of their own Champagne. Thus was born Maison Deutz. Very quickly, Champagnes Deutz would become internationally recognized for their refinement and become associated with prestige.

Description Deutz Brut Millésimé 2016.

This 2016 Cuvée Brut from Maison Deutz is predominantly Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru terroirs of Montagne de Reims, accounting for around two-thirds of the blend. The remaining third is Chardonnay, mainly from the Grand Cru villages of the Côte des blancs, with a touch of Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne completing the blend.

La robe's beautiful straw-gold color with sparkling reflections is studded with bubbles of great finesse, the fruit of long aging of at least 4 years in the House's cellars. The nose is delicate, with pastry and fruity aromas of apricot tart, peach tart, and notes of white flowers and almond paste.

On the palate, elegance and balance are the order of the day: pure, racy vivacity is combined with perfectly precise dosage. The floral aromatic palette elegantly reveals greedy fruity aromas, with hints of spice and blond tobacco. Discreet aromas of almond and ripe yellow stone fruit are also present. The finish is mineral, subtly iodized.

A wine Millésimé that can be enjoyed both as an aperitif and at the table, with many fine fish such as turbot with a beurre blanc sauce, or with a fine blanquette de veau.
