Domaine Armand Rousseau

Armand Rousseau, from a family of winegrowers, created Domaine at the beginning of the 20th century with plots of vines he inherited when he came of age. A few years later, his marriage enabled him to expand his Domaine, both in the vineyard and in the winery.

He continued to expand his Domaine in the years that followed, and was joined by his son, Charles, in 1945 to manage the family's Domaine. Having trained as an oenologist at Dijon University, he contributed his know-how and continued to develop Domaine by buying new plots. Fluent in several languages, he decided to start marketing his wines in Europe, then in the United States and Asia in 1970. Some ten years later, his son Eric, who had just completed his viticulture/oenology studies in Dijon, joined Domaine. He starts working in the vineyards to put into practice new techniques such as leaf thinning and pesticide-free mechanical tillage. His aim is to turn Domaine towards more organic viticulture and traditional winemaking with less handling. Cyrielle Rousseau, his daughter, joined the team in 2014 after several experiences abroad.

Located in Côte de Nuit, Domaine Rousseau comprises 15.33 ha in Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru appellation on clay-limestone soils. Six emblematic Grands Crus are currently vinified by Cyrielle and Eric: Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Ruchottes Chambertin, Mazy Chambertin and Clos de La Roche. The flagship grape variety of Bourgogne, Pinot Noir, has been chosen to bring out the best in the different terroirs. Fine, elegant and endowed with an immense aromatic palette, it produces wines of extraordinary Extra quality.

Description Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru 2012.

The wine's brilliant, deep ruby-red color is immediately appealing.

When you dip your nose into the glass, it reveals a complex aromatic bouquet of black cherry, raspberry and licorice. Subtle woody notes offer a promising foretaste.

On the palate, this 2012 vintage impresses with its solid structure and dense yet silky tannins. The balance between power and elegance is perfect.

Black fruit and spice flavors unfold harmoniously and linger long into the finish, a sign of the exceptional craftsmanship of this emblematic Domaine from Bourgogne.
