Claude Cazals

The House of Cazals was founded in 1897 in Mesnil-sur-Oger by Ernest Cazals, a renowned cooper from the Hérault region who married a Champagne woman. Three generations have since succeeded each other at the head of the operation and today, DelpHine Cazals runs it with as much passion and enthusiasm to continually highlight this great terroir of Côte des blancs.

The House Claude Cazals: an exceptional terroir

DelpHine Cazals has been running the house since the death of his father in 1996. The entire Cazals vineyard consists of 9 hectares of vines that are spread over 4 communes: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus and Villeneuve. One part is therefore classified as Grand Cru and the other part is classified as Premier Cru. All the vines are planted with Chardonnay in order to create cuvées with their own identity, all in finesse and aromatic power. The oceanic climate with continental influence is conducive to its good development.

One of the assets of Maison Cazals is to have an exceptional parcel classified as Grand Cru in a delimited area: the Clos Cazals, with an area of 3.70 hectares of old vines on the village of Oger.

The emblematic cuvées of Maison Cazals

The Maison Claude Cazals offers cuvées of splendid freshness and irresistible to say the least.

The Cuvée Carte d'Or wonderfully reflects the style of the house: balance, minerality and floral and brioche aromas. Ideal for aperitifs to whet the appetite.

How could you not succumb to La Chapelle du Clos 2016, intense, precise and gourmet. A vintage of great effervescence to enhance a festive and gastronomic meal.

Let's present, of course, the Clos Cazals 2013, from the famous eponymous parcel and which offers a nectar worthy of its reputation. Matured in oak barrels and aged on laths for a minimum of 10 years, it is a Champagne of intense aromatic complexity, fine and elegant, conducive to refined fish or truffle-based dishes.

Description Claude Cazals Cuvée Rosé.

This rosé blend requires special attention. This cuvée is elaborated with carefully selected grapes from the most mature plots and where the average age of the vines is 40 years, in order to elaborate a smooth, rich and long wine.

Every year, at harvest time, Delphine goes to a friend of the family, a winegrower in Verzenay (Grand Cru), to choose the barrel of red wine that will be used to make this cuvée Rosée.

Grape variety : 88 % Chardonnay and 12 % Pinot Noir (Red Wine)
