Domaine des Lambrays

Domaine des Lambrays

In a title deed from the Abbey of Citeaux dated February 1365, the name "Cloux des Lambrey" appears for the first time, a spelling which disappeared over time and which today is written "Clos des Lambrays". On a milestone in the wall of sealed Clos des Lambrays appears this same date as a reminder to visitors in homage to time.

Le Clos des Lambrays is located at Morey-Saint-Denis on the prestigious Côte des Nuits. The village of Morey-Saint-Denis has the highest proportion of Grands Crus.

The Clos, one of the Rares and most prestigious Clos de Bourgogne is surrounded by walls and is situated on a gentle ridge on which lies the vineyard of Clos des Lambrays whose oldest vines are over 60 years old. The Clos des Lambrays is planted with Pinot Noir on a very small area of around 8 hectares, a very Rare but sublime production.

The Clos des Lambrays house also produces a Puligny-Montrachet and Clos du Cailleret les Folatieres both in Premier Cru.

Description Domaine des Lambrays "Clos des Lambrays" Grand Cru 2021.

The cuvée Clos des Lambrays is a true Burgundy nugget. Enjoying a virtual monopoly on this Grand Cru appellation, this cuvée reflects the heart and soul of Domaine des Lambrays.

The vastness of the clos, unusual in Bourgogne, conceals a mosaic of terroirs : between the marls at the top and the skilful blend of clay and limestone at the bottom, each parcel brings its own personal touch to the complexity of the wine.

If 2021 was marked by major challenges : between early frost and fungal pressure, the harvest was smaller, the resulting wine is remarkably elegant and reminiscent of the 2017 vintage. Endowed with a supple yet suave body, its bouquet reveals a symphony of aromas, oscillating between macerated cherry, blackcurrant powder and the noble plant essence of the whole harvest.

Under the ageis of Jacques Devauges, formerly of Clos de Tart, Domaine displays renewed ambition. With the blessing of LVMH and a dedicated team, the aim is clear : to restore the glory of yesteryear to the wines of Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays. In this quest, it would appear that the estate has already won some precious victories. In the glass, Cuvée Clos des Lambrays has never looked so dazzling, as evidenced by the recent rave reviews in the trade press.
