Domaine Didier Dagueneau

The Domaine Didier Dagueneau is an icon among wine producers in the Loire region of France.

Founded by the late Didier Dagueneau, this Domaine is renowned for its Sauvignon Blanc wines of exceptional quality, reflecting the unique terroir of the Loire valley.

The family's history in the world of wine goes back to great-grandfather René, who began cultivating vines in Saint-Andelain, in the Loire valley, in the early 20th century. However, it was under Didier's direction that Domaine reached heights of international renown.

Didier Dagueneau, a visionary winemaker, inherited the family passion for wine. He has transformed Domaine, initially focused on bulk wine production, into a renowned producer of white wines of exceptional quality. His rigorous approach to viticulture and winemaking has quickly made Domaine a leading name in the world of Sauvignon Blanc.

The Domaine vineyard covers around 13 hectares, planted mainly with Sauvignon Blanc, with a few parcels of Pinot Noir. The vines are spread over distinct plots, each with its own microclimate and characteristic soil. This diversity enables us to create wines that fully express the richness of the terroir.

Description Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé "Silex" 2011.

Elaborated from Sauvignon Blanc, Didier Dagueneau's cuvée Silex is one of those great Loire wines with a worldwide reputation.

As its name suggests, Silex is a cuvée that takes its name from its terroir strewn with these stones. With its Rare minerality, this cuvée is both powerful and complex. It is undoubtedly one of the world's finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc.

The wine offers a very rich aromatic palette, with aromas of green apple, white flowers reminiscent of honey, lemon and Secs fruits. The palate is full-bodied with the same aromatic profile, revealing lovely acidity on the finish.

This cuvée is the archetypal wine for laying down, where it can be enjoyed now or cellared for a further 5 years.

With its saline notes, Silex will go wonderfully well with langoustine with lemony white butter, or more simply with aged goat's cheese.
